This is another craft project for my fireplace mantle. I have a look I am going for in my mind for our fireplace for Valentine’s Day and I can’t wait to show it to you.
This sign will be the next layer of signs I am putting up on my mantle. I wanted a sign with one of my favorite love poems on it from Elizabeth Browning.
I think in the video I call her Bronte- I meant Browning….it is one of my favorite love poems.
Sonnet 43, How do I love thee?
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
I wanted this sign to look like an imperfect old typewriter printed it.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the vinyl. You can watch the video on how I “weed” vinyl here.
After weeding the vinyl it was time to place it on the canvas and paint it. I used a stencil brush and black chalk paint. The stencil brush helps keep the paint from bleeding under the letters. Although with this sign I knew I was okay with imperfections!
I added a one by two boards as a wooden frame and that was it.
I cannot wait to get all my crafts done for this fireplace reveal!
