Happy Holidays Friends!  We here in Wisconsin have had a drop in temperatures- gone are the 40-degree temperatures!  It is like we skipped December and went right into the chill of January. I was looking for something to warm us up.  Remember as a child, coming in from playing in the snow and having a steaming cup of hot cocoa waiting for you.  I wanted to treat my kids and their friends to that very thing. Join me in creating a Hot Cocoa Bar!

As a treat before the holiday, we set up a hot cocoa bar in our kitchen.  What a fun surprise for my kids when they get off the bus and walk home in the cold to come into the house and be treated with a warm sweet cup of hot cocoa.

Let’s take a tour.

I decided to set it up in the corner of our kitchen on a small buffet.  The space was perfect for the bar.

I wanted a cute sign to go above the bar. I used a  chalkboard sign, added hooks, and used my Chalk Couture stencils and chalk paint paste to create the sign- SO easy!  You can get this same transfer here.  I hung the sign and added these cute mugs from Target.  I got one for each of the kids- they LOVED these mugs and each claimed one as “theirs”.  You can get these cute little mugs by clicking on my affiliate link here- the Snowman, the Christmas Tree, the Reindeer, or Santa

Two Sided Chalkboard for Hot Cocoa Bar

Next I used this two sided chalkboard we have in our kitchen to list all of the ingredients we will have available to create your perfect cup of hot cocoa.  I again used the Chalk Couture Transfer to create this fun sign.  The transfer comes with a list of hot cocoa toppings and the list is LONG- I didn’t even know you could add some of those things to your hot cocoa.I wanted the set up to be convenient and fun without becoming cluttered.

We used some great basics to put the bar together.  I used this wooden tray as my base to set the necessary items on. Using a wooden tray helps organize the chaos and makes it look like you gathered those items with intention- it makes a great foundation. Next I used this adorable two tiered tray to store some of the smaller items like the cocoa packets, spoons, candy canes, sprinkles, and small jars of peppermint marshmallows, and dark chocolate chips.

I added a festive little tree, cute buffalo plaid appetizer plates, and Santa napkins.
